Guillermo Rigondeaux and James Dickens square off Saturday afternoon at the Echo Arena.
Guillermo Rigondeaux enters this fight with a 16-0 record that includes 10 knockouts. This will Rigondeaux’s second fight since 2015, and he’s coming off a November win over Drian Francisco. Rigondeaux is a defensive master at just 5’4”, as he controls the ring as well as anyone while being able to bob and weave punches at an elite level. Rigondeaux is a true artist in the ring due to his ability to avoid punches the way he does consistently. Rigondeaux can also end a fight rather quickly, as four of his last nine fights have resulted in knockout. The concern for Rigondeaux is that he can be a little too cautious at times, and he’s fighting in England for the first time, his opponent's home turf. This will be Rigondeaux’s first fight in England.

James Dickens enters this fight with a 21-1 record that includes six knockouts. Dickens has won his last five fights and is coming off a November win over Martin Ward. Dickens is a very aggressive fighter who throws a ton of punches and does a nice job of working the body. It’s actually surprising that Dickens doesn’t have more knockouts than what he does due to the amount of rapid punches he’s capable of throwing in a single fight. The downside is that Dickens can be somewhat sloppy at times with his aggressiveness and leave holes in his defense. Dickens better be more careful in this fight or it won’t last long at all. Dickens has fought his whole career in England, his home country.
After seeing some tape of Dickens and knowing what Rigondeaux is capable of, this fight could get ugly. Rigondeaux is a boxing master who will easily take advantage of Dickens’ aggressiveness and land those shots to end this thing. Dickens is a restable fighter but is nowhere near the caliber of Rigondeaux.
Look for Rigondeaux to remain unbeaten.
