Robert Helenius and Johann Duhaupas fight Saturday afternoon at the Hartwall Arena for the WBC Silver Heavyweight title.
Robert Helenius enters this fight with a 22-0 record that includes 13 knockouts. This will be Helenius’ fourth fight since 2015, and he’s coming off a December win over Franz Rill. Helenius doesn’t need an introduction, as he’s one of the top heavyweight fighters in the world. Helenius has an impressive reach of 79 inches, has above-average power and does a wonderful job of putting punches together. Helenius has been steamrolling his competition since becoming a pro back in 2008, and it also helps that he has an iron chin. The only concern for Helenius at this point is that he can be vulnerable on the defensive end to aggressive fighters. This will be Helenius’ eighth fight in Helsinki.
USA TODAY Sports
Johann Duhaupas enters this fight with a 33-3 record that includes 20 knockouts. Duhaupas has won six of his last eight fights and is coming off a February win over Marcelo Luiz Nascimento. Duhaupas is a big boy at 6’5” who has impressive power with six of his last eight wins coming by way of knockout. Duhaupas does a nice job of moving around the ring and has an effective jab that keeps his opponent on guard. Duhaupas also has a proven chin, getting knocked out just once in his career. The concern with Duhaupas is that he usually loses all of his fights against above-average competition, including Deontay Wilder and Erkan Teper as of late. This will be Duhaupas’ first fight in Finland.
Duhaupas is a tough dude capable of pulling off the upset, but he doesn’t have many victories under his belt against impressive competition. Hard to expect that changing here. Helenius is one of the top heavyweight fighters in the world and hasn’t shown much weakness during his climb to the top. It’s just tough to trust Duhaupas in big fights.
Look for Helenius to remain undefeated.
