Ivan Redkach and Luis Cruz fight late Tuesday night at the Sands Bethlehem Event Center.
Ivan Redkach enters this fight with a 19-1 record that includes 15 knockouts. Redkach has won five of his last six fights and is coming off a October win over Erick Daniel Martinez. Redkach has been climbing up the boxing rankings for quite some time and is eager to get another title shot at some point after losing to Dejan Zlaticanin back in June. Redkach is aggressive boxer who likes to throw relentless punches and work the body. When Redkach is at the top of his game, he’s tough to beat due to his aggressive style and ability to win rounds with the judges. The concern with Redkach is that he does have holes in his defense, and he was knocked out less than a year ago when fighting someone who can take advantage. This will be Redkach’s first fight in Pennsylvania.

Luis Cruz enters this fight with a 22-4 record that includes 16 knockouts. Cruz has split his last eight fights and is coming off a November win over Roberto Acevedo. Cruz has been hit or miss in his last several fights but is still an OK fighter who has given us solid performances against guys such as Antonio Davis and Martin Honorio. Cruz has very good punching power in both hands and has a strong and tested chin. When Cruz is hitting his spots and feeling confident, he’s capable of beating some respirable boxers. The concern with Cruz is that he keeps his hands way too low, which leads to nasty counters and is the main reason the losses have piled up the last few years. This will be Cruz’s first fight in Pennsylvania.
Cruz is a decent fighter who should be able to give the fans something, as he’s a tough guy who is able to take a pounding. However, as far as winning the fight, Redkach is just simply the better boxer and will be able to take advantage of Cruz’s hiccups on the defensive end.
Redkach should have little trouble winning this fight and could get it by knockout if Cruz isn’t careful.
