Andre Dirrell and Blake Caparello fight Friday night at the Trump Taj Mahal.
Andre Dirrell enters this fight with a 24-2 record that includes 16 knockouts. Dirrell has won five of his last six fights and is coming off a May loss to James DeGale. Dirrell should be highly motivated for this fight after losing his shot to snag the IBF Super Middleweight title last year. Dirrell is a long, rangy fighter who uses his length on his power punches but is also tough to hit with the way he’s able to move around the ring. Dirrell is a real creative fighter who kind of has his own style and is more than capable of making his opponent very uncomfortable. The Matrix has clearly proven himself as one of the better super middleweights in the world. The concern with Dirrell for me is he’s always veruable to counters due to his aggressiveness on the offensive end. This will be Dirrell’s first fight in New Jersey.

Blake Caparello enters this fight with a 22-1-1 record that includes six knockouts. Caparello has won his last three fights and is coming off a November win over Luke Sharp. Caparello is an aggressive fighter who throws a lot of punches and has a solid jab. Caparello has decent head movement and is one of the better conditioned fighters in the sport. Caparello simply doesn’t get outworked and forces his opponent to actually beat him if he’s going to lose. The issue with Caparello is that he doesn’t pack much power behind his punches, putting a lot of pressure on him to win rounds against quality fighters. This will be Caparello’s third fight in New Jersey.
Caparello is a hard worker and is aggressive enough to steal a few rounds in this fight, but winning is a different story. Dirrell has the power to end this fight and is simply the far better offensive boxer who can hurt Caparello with his wild haymakers he throws throughout a fight.
Look for Dirrell to get his bounce back statement victory.
