Youri Kalenga and Yunier Dorticos fight Saturday at the Palais des Sports for the WBA Cruiserweight title.
Youri Kalenga enters this fight with a 22-2 record that includes 15 knockouts. Kalenga has won five of his last six fights and is coming off a November win over Roberto Bolonti. Kalenga bounced back nicely from his loss to Denis Lebedev and now has another shot at the title. Kalenga is known for his overwhelming power and a vicious right hand that has produced knockouts in eight of his last nine wins. El Toro also has a proven chin with both of his losses coming by decisions. When Kalenga gets comfortable, his aggressive offense and power takes over and usually results in his opponent tasting the canvas. This will be Kalenga’s second fight in Paris.

Yunier Dorticos enters this fight with a 20-0 record that includes 19 knockouts. This will be Dorticos’ third fight since 2015, and he’s coming off a December win over Fulgencio Zuniga. Dorticos has been climbing up the rankings for a while now and is known for his power and aggressiveness. Edison Miranda is the only fighter to take Dorticos the distance, and eight of his last nine fights have been stopped in the fourth round or earlier. Dorticos has a powerful straight right and doesn’t waste much time jumping on his opponent as only two of his his bouts have made it past the fourth round overall. This will be Dorticos’ first fight outside of the United States.
This should be a fun fight for however long it lasts, as the power these guys have is bound to result in a knockout for someone. When it’s all said and done, Dorticos is the guy who is undefeated and probably the more polished boxer overall. We’ve also seen Kalenga lose to fighters less talented as Dorticos.
I like Dorticos to get the job done here and remain unbeaten.
