DeMarcus Corley and Revlon Lake square off Wednesday afternoon in Jamaica.
DeMarcus Corley enters this fight with a 44-27-1 record that includes 26 knockouts. Corley has lost five of his last seven fights and is coming off an April loss to Adrian Estrella. Corley is clearly past his prime as he quickly approaches 42 years old next month. Corley has lost to some subpar fighters recently and continues his heavy workload with this being his fourth fight of the year already. When in good form, Chop Chop has power in both hands, and he throws a lot of combinations with impressive shots to the body. Corley also has a decent chin, as only seven of his 27 losses have come by knockout and he’s been in the ring with Floyd Mayweather Jr and Zab Judah. This will be Corley’s second fight in Kingston.
USA TODAY Sports
Revlon Lake enters this fight with a 9-13-2 record that includes one knockout. Lake has won three of his last four fights and is coming off a March win over Anthony Woods. Lake is finally starting to get some consistency under his belt, as this was a guy who once lost seven straight fights. There’s no real videos of Lake out there, but he clearly has a weak chin with nine of his 13 losses coming by knockout. Lake also doesn’t have the most impressive resume in the world, so you have to question his overall boxing skills with all of these losses to subpar and unknown fighters. The only thing going for Lake is that he should be confident with wins in three of his last four bouts. This will be Lake’s third fight in Kingston.
I don’t know much about Lake at all, other than the fact his resume is awful, due to the lack of material out there on him. Corley isn’t in the best form, but he has the experience advantage over Lake and is overall the better boxer. Even at his age, Corley still has punching power and can land combinations.
So, give me Corley in the victory.
