Ryan Burnett and Ryan Farrag fight Saturday at the Echo Arena for the British Bantamweight title.
Ryan Burnett enters this fight with a 14-0 record that includes nine knockouts. This will be Burnett’s ninth fight since 2015, and he’s coming off a July win over Cesar Ramirez. Burnett is a rising superstar in the UK at 24 years old and will be defending this belt for the first time since beating Jason Booth. Burnett is rapidly working his way up the rankings since turning pro a few years ago and has taken on this ridiculous workload with a fight nearly every other month. Burnett is an aggressive pressure fighter who likes to push the pace and keep his opponent on his toes with his offensive attack. Burnett also has strong punching power but has seen his last three bouts end in decisions. Burnett has fought much of his career in the United Kingdom, his birthplace.

Ryan Farrag enters this fight with a 16-2 record that includes four knockouts. Farrag has won 11 of his last 12 fights and is coming off a September win over Elvis Guillen. Farrag will be fighting for the third time since June and has a chance to get by far his biggest career victory. Farrag is an athletic boxer who has great movement and throws a variety of punches. Farrag isn’t the quickest or most accurate puncher in the world, but he doesn’t mind mixing it up and trying to win each round regardless of his flaws. The main concern is the lack of power, but while there’s not much pop behind his punches, his four knockouts have come in his last six victories. Farrag has fought most of his career in the United Kingdom, his birthplace.
This is a nice fight on a pretty solid card overall, as these are two young guys who have been making noise in the UK for quite some time. However, Burnett is head and shoulders the better boxer here and can pretty much end this thing whenever he likes. Farrag lacks the speed, power and accuracy to hang with Burnett, who is a superstar in the making and will become a household name rather quickly. Farrag is a good boxer, but he’s simply in over his head in this matchup.
Burnett will remain undefeated when this bout is finished.
