Floyd Mayweather Jr.successfully returned to the ring defeating a game Juan Manuel Marquez by unanimous decision. What was seen beforehand as a possibly boring fight, ended up being pretty close to just that. Mayweather was just the physically bigger man and controlled the fight. Marquez was the aggressor but it was apparent early he wasn't going to hurt Mayweather. The highlight of the fight came in the second round when Mayweather hit Marquez with a shot that sent him to the canvas. As has been the case throughout his career, Juan Manuel beat the 10 count and continues on. Mayweather landed punches at will and according to compubox had his most accurate night of throwing punches in his career. Marquez on the other hand, had his worst landing only eight percent. While Mayweather won very easily, there will still be questions because of the size disparity. More than likely Marquez will return back to his more natural weight division of lightweight and Mayweather will remain where he is. The most lucrative fight on the horizon for the man nicknamed "Money" is with current pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao but both sides already are considering that a difficult fight to make. I would say though there are probably around one hundred million good reasons to make it and if that is the case, it will eventually happen. Of course Pacquiao has to fight Miguel Cotto first in November in Las Vegas. It's a jam packed schedule of boxing this fall and we'll have no shortage of fights to talk about. Up next will be the Klitschko-Arreola Heavyweight title fight next Saturday, September 26.
