The Missouri Tigers and the Toledo Rockets face off on Saturday in a week two college football match up.
The Missouri Tigers basically took the week off in week one of the college football season scheduling a FCS opponent in Murray State and after last year’s dreadful season I can only guess they are looking for any wins they can get. QB James Franklin left they game fairly early in the third quarter but not before throwing for 318 yards and three touchdowns. Henry Josey looks to have recovered form his knee surgery rushing for 113 yards and a touchdown and Russell Hansbrough ran for 104 yards and two touchdowns. Jaleel Clark led the Mizzou receivers with five catches and Dorial Green-Beckham had four catches as did Bud Sasser and Marcus Lucas. Defensively Missouri allowed 297 yards as Michael Sam had seven tackles, E.J. Gaines had four tackles and two interceptions, and Matt White was among a group of Tigers with four tackles. Missouri will face a much stiffer test this week and we will get a better idea if they are a better team than we saw last year.

For the second time in two weeks the Toledo Rockets face a SEC opponent as they travel to Missouri on Saturday. Toledo didn’t have a lot of success in their opener as they were shut down by Florida. QB Terrance Owens completed 17 of 38 passes for just 155 yards. David Fluellen gained just 46 yards on the ground and 42 in the air as the Rockets’ offense was shut down. Bernard Reedy had seven catches and Dwight Macon and Alonzo Russell had three each but Toledo was just no match for the Gators. Defensively Toledo did a nice job against the pass making UF QB Jeff Driskel look at the best average but they couldn’t stop the Gators on the ground allowing 262 rushing yards. Junior Sylvester led Toledo with 11 tackles, Trent Voss had 10 tackles, and Chase Murdock had nine. While it is another SEC opponent for Toledo Missouri isn’t ranked in the top 25 let lone the top 10 like last week’s opponent.
Missouri is 4-1 against the spread in their last five non-conference games, 2-7 against the spread following a game that they covered the point spread, and 2-8 against the spread following a win. Toledo is 1-4 against the spread following a game that they covered the point spread, 4-1 against the spread in their last five September games, and 1-4 against the spread on fieldturf.
I ma expecting a lot of offense in this one and over the total is going to be my pick in this one. I I also have a pick on who will cover the spread and I give out out for Free on Saturday's 1stQuarter Podcast.
