The Line: Wake Forest Demon Deacons -3.5 -- Over/Under: 58 See the Latest Odds
The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks travel to Wake Forest to play the Demon Deacons on Saturday.
The LA-Monroe Warhawks bounced back from a loss to Oklahoma in week one by defeating Grambling State 48-10 at home on Saturday. RB Jyruss Edwards made the most of his eight carries, rushing for 123 yards and a touchdown to help the Warhawks get the victory. LA-Monroe was shutout by Oklahoma in week one so the offense was eager to get points on the board in this one. The Warhawks offense produced 571 total yards, with 367 of those yards coming on the ground. QB Browning finished 13 of 25 for 171 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. The LA-Monroe defense allowed 237 total yards against Grambling State and only 94 yards rushing. The Warhawks will have to take better care of the ball moving forward as they coughed it up three times in this contest. The Warhawks should be able to put up points against a weak Wake Forest defense, but they will need to play discipline on defense if they want to earn a road win against an ACC team.

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons fell to 1-1 on the year after losing at Boston College 24-10 on Thursday night. Wake Forest, coming off a 31-7 victory over FCS opponent Presbyterian, was sloppy early to help the Eagles take a 17-7 halftime lead. The Demon Deacons turned it over three times and were stopped on the goal-line twice in the game. The Wake Forest offense produced only 246 total yards, while only gaining 55 rushing yards. QB Price finished 18 of 20 for 191 yards and one touchdown with one interception. Star WR Campanaro caught 5 balls for 86 yards and a touchdown in the loss. The Demon Deacons defense limited Boston College’s QB Rettig to 123 yards passing, but he did throw two touchdown passes. Boston College established the run early and often against Wake Forest, finishing with 191 yards on the ground in the contest. This could be a big problem for Wake Forest against LA-Monroe this week, a team that produced 367 rushing yards last week. Wake Forest will need to get the offense running efficiently this week in order to keep the defense off the field.
The over is 5-0 in the Warhawks last 5 games following an ATS loss. The over is 7-1-1 in the Warhawks last 9 non-conference games. The under is 8-1 in the Demon Deacons last 9 games overall. The Demon Deacons are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
This will be the first meeting between LA-Monroe and Wake Forest. Wake Forest will not only have the luxury of playing at home, but they will have had 10 days to prepare for this game. Wake Forest had trouble stopping the run last week against Boston College and I think they will struggle again in this one. The Demon Deacons will have to produce on offense to keep up with the Warhawks and I believe Price and company will do just that. I think this will be a close high scoring game. I’ll lean towards LA-Monroe getting a field goal, but I think the over is the best play in this game as both teams will reach 30 points.
