The Purdue Boilermakers head to Camp Randall Stadium on Saturday to face off against the Wisconsin Badgers.
The Wisconsin Badgers fell to the Arizona State Sun Devil last Saturday night 32-30 in Tempe. This game had one of the weirdest finishes I’ve seen in a while. Wisconsin fell behind late, and as the Badgers moved the ball down the field trying to set up the game winning field goal, Wisconsin QB Stave just set the ball on the ground. There was confusion as to whether or not it was a fumble or not. Officials had problems setting the ball, and while everything was being worked out, the final seconds ticked off the clock, giving the Sun Devils the win. Sophomore QB Stave (with the exception of the final sequence) was decent on the night, throwing for 187 yards and a score. Wisconsin has always been about running the ball, and that was no different in Tempe on Saturday night. The Badgers rushed for 231 yards against the Sun Devils defense. Arizona State had little problem moving the ball on the Badgers, putting up 468 yards of total offense on the day.

The Purdue Boilermakers fell to 1-2 on the year Saturday night when the Boilermakers were upended by the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 31-24. The Boilermakers played their best game of the year to date, but even so it was not enough to upset the golden domers. The Boilermakers have the 111th ranked scoring offense this season, putting up just 17 points per game on average. Defensively, Purdue hasn’t fared much better, allowing more than 29 points per game this season. The Boilermakers managed just 294 yards of offense on the day. Purdue didn’t move the ball a ton, but the Boilermakers were efficient against Notre Dame, only turning the ball over once to the Irish on an interception by Henry. Speaking of Henry, the Boilermaker QB had a very solid day against the domers, throwing for 256 yards and three touchdowns, against this solid Irish defense. Notre Dame was able to move the ball well against Purdue, putting up 400 yards of total offense, and Notre Dame Quarterback Tyler Rees threw for 309 yards and two scores on the day.
In their last eleven games on the road, the Boilermakers are just 4-7 against the spread. In home lined games the past three seasons, the Badgers are a solid 10-6 against the number.
I have to give the edge here to the Boilermakers, at least at this number. Honestly 23 looks to be about right so as of right now there isn’t a ton of value on either side, and this will be a pass for me.
The Badgers do have to play the Buckeyes on the road next week, so even the fact that the Boilermakers are a conference opponent, there is a chance the Badgers will be looking ahead to the Buckeyes next weekend.
