The Utah State Aggies look to get back on the winning track at the San Jose State Spartans.
Utah State has a big scoring offense and a defense that has been just as impressive but only the defense was able to do any thing against Southern Cal in a 17-14 defeat. Even Chuckie Keaton couldn't save the Agggies who managed just 285 yards and struggled on the ground and air. Joey DeMartino and Joe Hill gave USU a positive threat on the ground with a combined 123 yards on 14 carries but Keaton was a non factor on the ground. Keaton eve struggled in the air (21-39/179) with several misfires with Travis Reynolds hauling in five ballsfor 70 yards. The Aggies were still just one play away from pulling the upset thanks to the defense holding the Trojans to 285 yards.

A 1-2 start to kick off the season tells me that San Jose State is not the same team we saw a year ago. Points have been difficult to come by with little ability to run the ball being the obvious problem. The Spartans were completely unable to run in a 43-24 loss to Minnesota with David Fales throwing for 439 yards with three touchdowns and a pair of interceptions. Chandler jones exploded for 197 yards and three touchdowns on seven receptions. The difference was the SJSU defense was pounded on the ground by the Golden Gophers to the tune of 424 yards which resulted in over 41 minutes of possession while their own offense gave the ball away three times which had the defense constantly on the field.
The line is a bit higher then I thought or would have liked with BYU on deck for Utah State. The bottom line is the Aggies can't afford another loss so I'll take them but not 100% confident.
