Georgia Bulldogs vs. LSU Tigers Free Pck 9/28/13Mitch's Free College Football Pick Against the Spread
Georgia and LSU face off in a SEC college football battle Between the Hedges.
The Georgia Bulldogs and the LSU Tigers face off on Saturday in Athens in a monster college football battle in the SEC.
The Georgia Bulldogs have played a brutal schedule thus far and it continues on Saturday facing another top 10 team. Georgia has bounced back from their opening game loss to Clemson by knocking off South Carolina and North Texas but this game could be their toughest yet. QB Aaron Murray has completed 72 percent of his passes with seven touchdowns and two interceptions. Todd Gurley is averaging 6.0 yards per carry with four touchdowns and Keith Marshall is averaging 3.8 yards per carry with a touchdown. Chris Conley and Michael Bennett each have 10 receptions and Arthur Lynch has eight as the Dawgs have spread the ball around. Defensively Georgia is allowing 29.7 points per game and 388.7 yards with just one interception, two fumble recoveries, and five sacks. Ramik Wilson has 31 tackles, Amarlo Herrera has 30 tackles, and Sterling Bailey has 16 tackles. The Georgia special teams had a tough day last Saturday and with their defense being ordinary that is an area they will need to improve.
The LSU Tigers came into the season with unusually low expectations put on them following last year’s loss in the Chik-fil-A Bowl but they have come out on fire and look like contenders to win it all. LSU is off to a 3-0 start and like Georgia, they have played a top notch schedule. QB Zach Mettenberger is much improved over last season completing 64.8 percent of his passes with 10 touchdowns and an interception. Jeremy Hill is coming off of a career game and he is averaging 8.4 yards per carry with six touchdowns, Terrence Magee is averaging 7.6 yards per carry with three touchdowns, and Alfred Blue is averaging 4.9 yards per carry. Jarvis Landry has 24 receptions and six touchdowns and Odell Beckham has 20 catches and four touchdowns as the LSU passing attack features their wide receivers. The LSU defense is allowing 19.5 points per game and 310 yards with three interceptions, seven sacks, and three fumble recoveries. Lamin Barrow has 22 tackles to lead LSU and Ego Ferguson and Micah Eugene each have 21. LSU once again has a defense loaded with stars and future NFL starters.
Georgia is 5-0 against the spread in their last five SEC games, 5-2 against the spread following a win, and 4-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record. LSU is 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games, 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 SEC games, and 1-5 against the spread following a win.
Georgia has an explosive offense and LSU has a better defense but certainly enough offense to move the ball and score on Georgia so my free pick is going to be on the over. My stronger play is on who will cover the spread and I will post that strong play in the Premium Area.
