The Washington State Cougars and California Golden Bears face off at Memorial Stadium in PAC 12 action.
Defense and passing have carried Washington State thus far to a 3-2 record after losing to Stanford by a 55-17 count. If the Cougars are going to make a move now is the time if they can put the Stanford debacle behind them where they couldn't move the ball and couldn't stop the Cardinal. Stanford piled up 560 yards split between the ground and air while WSU mustered 373 yards with no support from the rushing attack. On top of that Connor Halliday is banged up after throwing for 184 yards and a pick with Austin Apodaca coming in to go 15-29 for 138 yards with a pair of touchdowns and an interception.

Cal has shown some scoring ability through four contests but unfortunately opponents have shown a lot more. In week four the offense stalled and the result was a 55-16 loss to Oregon in a sloppy, mistake filled affair. The Ducks were held to 381 yards but had the benefit of two punt returns for touchdowns while Cal mustered 325 yards and lost four fumbles while tossing a pair of picks. Throw in eleven penalties and tough going on the ground and the Golden Bears were forced to the air more than they wanted. Freshman signal caller Zack Kline and the receiving corps had too many misfires as Kline completed 18-37 for 165 yards and an interception with the turnovers giving Oregon too many short fields.
I was favoring Washington State or the over but I don't know the status of Halliday who would be key to either of these picks. This looks like a game time decision so it doesn't draw interest from me...
