The Air Force Falcons and the Navy Midshipmen take the field in the battle of option attacks.
If you follow Air Force football, the two things that standout are the offense isn't scoring a ton of points, while opponents are. The Falcons finally broke loose offensively in a 45-42 defeat to Nevada, but the defense obviously struggled. The Falcons led throughout until a 21-7 4th quarter scoring burst by the Wolf Pack carried the day. The balanced attack of Nevada piled up 600 yards, while the Falcons option totaled 453 yards with 375 yards coming on the ground. Karson Roberts paced the run with 161 yards on 23 totes with a pair of touchdowns and another 55 yards coming through the air, while Broam Hart and Sam Gagliano combined for 165 rushing yards.

The Navy option was looking as good as ever through two games and figured to pile up some yardage at Western Kentucky, but the Hilltoppers were more then up to the task in a 19-7 decision on Saturday. The Middies experienced some bad luck with quarterback Keenan Reynolds going down with a head injury (concussion) and taking the team's chances at a win with him. Without their leader, the Middies were dead in the water with a mere 183 total yards, 107 coming on the ground. John Hendrick struggled as a replacement with a 5-10 effort in the air for 56 yards and a pair of crushing interceptions. WKU mustered 417 yards split between the air and ground and controlled the ball for a whopping 37 minutes.
I won't touch this game without knowing the condition of Reynolds, which we might never know. A healthy Keenan and I like the Middies chances, but that seems like a guess to me...
