The Arkansas State Red Wolves play host to the Idaho Vandals in an interconference match up.
Idaho ran in to a buzz saw named Fresno State in week six and were humbled 61-14 at the Kibbie Dome. The Vandals knew they were in trouble when they fell behind 28-0 after one quarter and were in damage control at half where they trailed 47-0. The Bulldogs were at the top of their game with over 700 yards of offense while the home team totaled 273 yards. If the Vandals ever needed to run the ball effectively this was the time but the rushing attack failed to break the 100 yard barrier. Chad Chalich had just as hard a time through the air, completing 14-32 for 100 yards with Fresno State players draped all over him virtually every time he dropped back. Dezmon Epps caught four balls for 76 yards with a touchdown including a long of 40 yards.

I know many have pin pointed Arkansas State as one of the favorites in the Sun Belt but it's hard to say what this team has after watching them lose to Missouri by a 41-19 count. The Red Wolves trailed just 20-16 after three quarters but fell apart in the final 15 minutes. The final numbers were competitive on paper with Missouri leading in yardage 495-435 but ASU was mostly one dimensional through the air. Arkansas State ran for 117 yards on 41 carries for under three yards per carry so moving the chains fell on the shoulders of Adam Kennedy and the receiving corps. Kennedy completed 37-46 for 318 yards with a touchdown and pick with Julian Jones and JD McKissic combining for 25 receptions for 253 yards. The defense played well until the Tigers muscled up with three fourth quarter touchdowns.
The Red Wolves have not fared well when stepping up in class but they should be prepared for Idaho who is not a Missouri. With a week off to prepare I'm favoring the Red Wolves who need a win here in the worse way...
