Hughes Stadium and the Colorado State Rams welcome the San Jose State Spartans to town on Saturday.
San Jose State is beginning a difficult stretch of their schedule where they have to step it up and string some wins together to keep their postseason hopes alive. The Spartans were in the midst of a three game slide and needed a strong performance at Aloha Stadium versus Hawaii and got it in a 37-27 victory. SJSU totaled 534 yards and owned the ball for over 36 minutes with the ability to both run and throw. The Spartans ran for 216 yards with Tim Crawley and Jarrod Lawson combining for 182 yards with the latter finding the end zone. David Fales enjoyed a big night through the air with 318 yards and three touchdowns but was just 18-35 and threw two interceptions. The defense allowed 473 yards but recovered a fumble and intercepted three passes.

Colorado State is another team ready to hit a difficult stretch of their schedule which means every game has added importance. The Rams came up smelling like roses in a 59-42 rout of Texas El Paso. This one looked like a rout with CSU building a 28-7 lead after 30 minutes before the Miners tied it 28-28. Colorado State regrouped and the rest was history as the Rams rolled up nearly 600 yards with 25 first downs and the ability to run or throw as they chose. The ground game churned out 250 yards with Kapri Bibbs leading the way with 147 yards on 13 totes with three touchdowns. The airways proved to be friendly with Garrett Grayson completing 17-28 for 307 yards and a trio of scoring strikes with Rashard Higgins the receiver of choice with six catches for 156 yards and a pair of TD's including a 56 yarder. The defense was tagged for almost 500 yards and struggled against the pass with the Miners throwing for 365 yards.
I think either team is capable of winning but I'm thinking the Rams at home are a decent enough team to lay the field goal and grab the win...
