The Chuckie Keaton-less Utah State Aggies host the Boise State Broncos in week seven action.
It's almost unheard of for Boise State to have two losses this early in the season but losing to Washington and Fresno State are hardly something to be ashamed of. The Broncos rebounded from their defeat at Fresno to rout visiting Southern Mississippi 60-7. BSU dominated both sides of the ball with a 545-266 advantage in real estate with 30 first downs and were able to move the chains in any manner they chose. The rushing attack totaled 229 yards with Jay Ajayi leading seven other runners with 83 yards on 14 totes with a trip to the end zone. The air was just as productive behind a near perfect day under center from Joe Southwick who completed 19-23 for 268 yards and three touchdowns with Matt Miller and Geraldo Boldewijn combining for 211 yards on seven receptions and a TD each.

Utah State had hoped to crack the top 25 in 2013 but at 3-3 and with no Chuckie Keeton those dreams are history. A 31-14 loss to Brigham Young was painful but Heisman candidate Keeton completely blew out his knee and the Aggies needed their star to survive the Cougars. With the star quarterback going down early the wind seemed to be gone from the sails of both the offense and defense with BYU winning the yardage battle 438-397. USU did have a solid running game with 186 yards and over five yard average with Joey DeMartino leading the way with 80 yards on 16 tries. Keeton threw for 26 yards for a TD and pick before going down with Craig Harrison going 18-41 for 185 yards with several misfires. The defense forced a pair of turnovers with BYU recording a pick six so the effort wasn't bad.
My thinking here is Boise State isn't the team we are accustomed to seeing and Utah State without Keeton is not a good thing. I don't like laying the points on the road but I feel this is the only way to go...
