The Western Michigan Broncos look to break in to the win column versus the visiting Ball State Cardinals.
Ball State was pegged as one of the teams that were favored to challenge for the MAC title and have not disappointed. The Cardinals won number three in a row following a late 27-24 victory over visiting Kent State. BSU can score and defend which is why they are 6-1 and 3-0 in the MAC and squeezed just enough out of both sides of the ball with both teams cracking 400 yards with Kent State doing their damage on the ground and Ball State through the air. Jahwan Edwards gave the Cardinals a threat on the ground with a team high 73 yards on eleven tries but the air was were the yards came. Keith Wenning did have problems hooking up with receivers, going 23-46 for 305 yards with four touchdowns and two picks with Willie Snead hauling in ten balls for 152 yards and two scores.

While Ball State might be one of the elite teams in the conference, Western Michigan is still in search of their first victory. The Broncos didn't find it in a 33-0 loss to visiting Buffalo in a game they trailed by just 6-0 heading in to the break before falling apart in the second half. The Bulls totalled 422 yards while WMU was limited to only 202 yards as UB dominated the ground with 290 yards while the Broncos received a team high 54 yards from Darevon Chance on nine carries. Quarterback Zach Terrell was chased around and sacked ten times for a loss of 34 yards while he completed 16-34 for 164 yards and a pair of interceptions. Throw in a pair of lost fumbles and seven penalties and the moving the chains was easily explainable.
Ball State clearly has the better numbers but also had the better numbers versus Kent State and barely survived. Western Michigan won't lose by a blow out every time but I am picking against them based on potential...
