The Boston College Eagles travel down to North Carolina to play the Tar Heels on Saturday afternoon.
Boston College fell to 3-3 on the year after losing at Clemson 24-14 two weeks ago. The Eagles have lost to the likes of USC, Florida State, and Clemson so far this year. In the game against Clemson, the offense produced only 286 yards, with only 94 coming on the ground. QB Chase Rettig completed 13 of 21 passes for 192 yards with one touchdown and one interception. RB Andre Williams rushed for 70 yards on 24 carries, while WR Alex Amidon caught 6 balls for 121 yards and a touchdown. Boston College ranks 86th in points scored, only averaging just over 25 points per game this year. Rettig has thrown for 1,083 yards and 10 touchdowns this season. Williams has rushed for 838 yards and 7 touchdowns, while Amidon leads the team in receiving with 38 grabs for 547 yards and three scores. The Boston College defense gave up 496 yards to the explosive offense of Clemson. The Eagles forced two turnovers and did a good job getting off the field on third down. Boston College held one of the best offenses in the country to only 24 points. The Eagles rank 58th in points allowed this season, giving up just over 26 points per game. The Eagles will be well rested after having the week off and they will try to improve on their 0-2 road record this weekend.

The North Carolina Tar Heels fell to 1-5 on the season after losing at home to Miami, 27-23, last Thursday night. North Carolina has played a fairly touch schedule, losing to the likes of South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, and now Miami. Against the Hurricanes, the Tar Heels produced 500 yards of offense, but turned the ball over twice and did not capitalize on their opportunities. QB Bryn Renner passed for 297 yards with one touchdown and one interception. RB Logan and RB Blue combined for 98 yards on 24 carries for the Tar Heels. The best player of the night for North Carolina was TE Eric Ebron, who finished with 8 catches for 199 yards and a score. The Tar Heel offense ranks a miserable 94th in the country in points scored, putting up an average of 23.5 points per game this season. Renner has thrown for 1,414 yards and 8 touchdowns this year, while RB Blue and RB Morris have combined for 395 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns. Ebron leads the team in receiving with 31 catches for 532 yards and 3 touchdowns this year. The North Carolina defense allowed 556 yards to a well-balanced Miami attack. The defense did a great job forcing four turnovers in the game but the offense couldn’t take full advantage of the Hurricanes miscues. The Tar Heels rank 92nd in points allowed, giving up over 30 points per this season.
Boston College is 1-7 ATS in their last 8 road games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a straight up loss. North Carolina is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following an ATS win. The under is 5-1 in North Carolina’s last 6 games overall.
The Tar Heels have won the last three meetings with Boston College, including a 31-13 win at Boston College in 2009. The Eagles haven’t played great in their first two road games but they faced two tough teams and North Carolina can’t match those opponents level of play. North Carolina played a hard fought and emotional game against Miami last week and this may be a letdown spot for the Tar Heels, even though they can’t afford. I think North Carolina giving a touchdown to a team in Boston College that has a solid defense and decent quarterback is too many. I’ll take the points in what I think will be a close game.
