The Tulsa Golden Hurricane visit the Mecedes-Benz Superdome to take the field with the Tulane Green Wave.
This hasn't been a typical season for Tulsa with a somewhat challenged offense that has led to a 2-4 record with a fairly tough schedule to be played. The Golden Hurricane finally played well on both sides with a 21-6 lead heading in to the half and holding off a second half rally by the miners. TU led in the yardage battle 430-388 with the ability to both run and throw equally well. The Golden Hurricane totaled over 200 rushing yards with Trey Watts leading the way with 142 yards on 27 carries. Cody Green enjoyed an efficient and near perfect performance through the air by completing 14-17 for 226 yards with a pair of touchdowns and no picks with Thomas Roberson catching five balls for 105 yards and a score. The special teams did give up a 100 yard kick return to ruin an otherwise quality effort.

If you rank teams based on how flashy they are you won't see Tulane at the top of the list because they are a plain vanilla blue collar team which I love. The Green Wave might have opened some eyes when they out lasted East Carolina 36-33 in overtime as a two touchdown underdog which was win number three in a row and has the team tied for first in the CUSA West with Rice at 3-0. ECU piled up nearly 550 yards but were held out of the end zone unti overtime where they scored twice. Tulane mustered just 310 yards with Orleans Darkwa the lone source of running with 56 yards on 12 carries while Devin Powell (23-39/224)keeping the offense going with a pair of touchdowns and an interception while the defense recorded a pick six.
Nothing Tulane jumps off the page and makes you say wow except they are winning. I'm inclined to take the points on the home dog who seems to be on par with Tulsa...
