The Idaho Vandals hope to give the Kibbie Dome crowd something to cheer about versus the Texas State Bobcats.
Texas State is a tough team for me to nail down as they seem to play to their competition which is great when facing good teams and not so much when facing the lesser lights. The Bobcats are a challenged offense but possess a better then average defense although the scoring came through in a 33-31 victory over South Alabama. Texas State fell behind by one with just over a minute left before driving for a 42 yard field goal off the foot of Jason Dann with four ticks left. The run game produced 224 yards with Robert Lowe and Chris Nutall combining for 165 yards on 27 carries while Tyler Jones gave the passing attack some quality production through the air with 227 yard with a pair of scores and an interception.

Idaho has struggled to find the end zone and opponents haven't which pretty much tells us why this team is saddled with a 1-7 record. A 59-14 defeat at Mississippi continued that trend with the Rebels leading 24-7 at the break and never letting up. The numbers tell the story with Ole Miss leading the yardage battle 572-273 with the Vandals held to 12 first downs and converting on 4-16 on third down. Idaho desperately needed a viable rushing attack to milk the clock and keep the Mississippi offense on the sideline but that didn't happen with five players totaling only 87 yards. Taylor Davis filled in for the injured Chad Chalich and completed 12-30 for 166 yards with a 62 yard scoring strike to Dezmon Epps. Overall the defense allowed six touchdowns of at least 30 yards.
I don't particularly like Texas State as a sizable road favorite as they looked quite average versus Southern Miss and Georgia State. I'll back them here if Chalich is still out but probably a no bet...
