The Arkansas State Red Wolves and South Alabama Jaguars square off at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
Arkansas State will be hard pressed to capture another Sun Belt with a few tough opponents left to be played although a Bowl berth is still within grasp. The Red Wolves have dropped three of four following a 23-7 home loss to conference leader Louisiana-Lafayette but have had two weeks to lick their wounds and prepare for the stretch run. The normally dependable offense did not move the ball with only 168 yards and ten first downs. The ground attack was no where to be found with less then 80 yards on 25 carries while the passing Adam Kennedy didn't fare much better. Kennedy hit on 11-20 for 89 yards and an interception and squandered a winnable performance by the defense.

South Alabama looks improved to me but enough to get a Bowl invitation? That depends on what the Jaguars do over the final five contests and my gut says it probably won't happen. Those chances probably went out the window with their 33-31 defeat at Texas State as a 31-30 lead in the last minute evaporated when the Bobcats drilled a 42 yard field goal with four ticks remaining. USA only held the ball for 22+ minutes with Cris Dinham and Ross Metheny combining for 90 rushing yards while the Bobcats ran for 234 yards on 53 totes to keep the clock ticking. Metheny did most of the damage with his right arm, completing 27-43 for 300 yards for three touchdowns and a pick with Danny Woodson Jr snagging five balls for 118 yards including 42 and 43 yard scores.
This one might favor the visitors who are coming in with extra rest and a Bowl in their sights although I believe the Jaguars are the better squad. Really a toss up and figures to be close and I'm just taking a stab to be honest...
