The 19th ranked Louisville Cardinals pay a visit to the winless Connecticut Huskies Friday night at 8:30PM in American Athletic Conference action.
Louisville comes into this game off of a bye week and freshly rested. Prior to their bye, the Cardinals bounced back from their first loss of the season with a dominant win over the South Florida Bulls 34-3. Louisville broke this one open early and never looked back as Teddy Bridgewater connected with Damian Copeland and Gerald Christian before the half on long touchdowns. Bridgewater finished the night with 344 yards, 3 td’s and no picks. Dominique Brown led all rushers with 126 yards on the ground and the Cardinals offense racked up 483 total yards while smothering South Florida to just 133 total yards for the contest. Louisville now faces quite a few cupcake contests down the stretch and will hope for a UCF loss along the way as they try to secure the first AAC title.

Connecticut fell to 0-7 two weekends ago as they were dominated by the surging UCF Knights 62-7. The Knights rolled UConn in all phases of the game. Connecticut finished with just 233 yards, turned the ball over 4 times and was outgained by 13 minutes in the time of possession battle. Lyle McCombs rushed for 88 yards and a td and Brian Lemelle hauled in 3 catches for 81 yards and a TD in his first action of the season. Connecticut has seen the wheels fall off this season and changes at QB and the firing of their head coach has done nothing to remedy their shortcomings. Things will not get easier with the Cardinals coming to town, but the schedule lightens significantly down the stretch.
Some trends to consider -- Louisville is 7-2 against the spread in their last 9 games on grass and Connecticut is 10-1-1 against the spread in their last 12 November contests.
Connecticut has been downright horrible this season as they have tried to replace a ton of lost production on both sides of the ball. Louisville is superior at all positions on paper and I expect this one to be over by halftime. Teddy Bridgewater should have a field day with a reeling UConn secondary and the Cardinals should get to the upper 30’s at least and let their D do the rest as they get the easy cover on the road in Storrs.
