The Virginia Tech Hokies travel down to Miami to play the Hurricanes on Saturday evening.

The Hokies dropped their second straight game at Boston College, 34-27, on Saturday and are now 6-3 overall, 3-2 in the ACC. Virginia Tech outgained the Eagles, gaining 446 total yards on offense with only 55 yards coming on the ground. However, the Hokies turned the ball over 4 times and had too many penalty yards in the loss. QB Logan Thomas threw for 391 yards with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Thomas also ran for 38 yards, while RB Trey Edmunds only rushed for 10 yards. Freshman WR Joshua Stanford caught 6 balls for 171 yards for the Hokies. Thomas has thrown for 2,056 yards and 11 touchdowns this season. Edmunds leads the team in rushing with 447 yards and 5 touchdowns, while Stanford leads the team in receiving with 455 yards this year. The Hokies rank an awful 102nd in points scored this season, averaging just over 22 points per game. The Hokies allowed just 289 yards against Boston College, but gave up 34 points because the Virginia Tech offense had too many miscues. The Virginia Tech defense ranks 8th in points allowed, giving up less than 17 points per game this season. This will be the Hokies fourth road game of the season, dropping their first road game last weekend.

Miami Hurricanes vs. Virginia Tech Hokies Pick-Odds-Prediction 11/9/13

John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Hurricanes dropped their first game of the year to Florida State, 41-14, on Saturday and now sit at 7-1 overall, 3-1 in the ACC. Florida State outgained Miami 517 to 275 yards on Saturday night. QB Stephen Morris threw for 192 yards with two touchdowns in the loss. WR Allen Hurns caught 5 balls for 84 yards and 2 touchdowns. RB Duke Johnson carried the ball 23 times for 97 yards for the Hurricanes. Morris has thrown for 1,655 yards and 12 touchdowns this season. Johnson has rushed for a team-high 920 yards and 6 touchdowns this season, but will not play the rest of the year due to a broken ankle that he suffered against Florida State. The Hurricanes rank 33rd in points scored, averaging over 36 points per game this year. The Hurricanes allowed a ton of yards against the Seminoles and struggled to get off the field on 3rd down, allowing Florida State to dominate time of possession all night long. The Miami defense ranks 25th in points allowed, giving up less than 21 points per game this season. Miami will head back home where they are 5-0 this year.

The under is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings in Miami. The Hokies are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings in Miami. The under is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings.

Virginia Tech had won three straight games against Miami until the Hurricanes defeated the Hokies 30-12 at home last year. The Hokies have not played well as of late, but their defense is still playing strong and should play well against a beat up Miami squad on Saturday. The Hurricanes are now without their best receiver and running back, while Morris has not looked sharp at quarterback. I think this will be a low scoring game and I’ll take the points with the Hokies in this one.

Virginia Tech +7
