The Alabama-Birmingham Blazers look for a road win over CUSA East leaders the East Carolina Pirates.
The Blazers season from a competitive stand point is over but with East Carolina and Rice still on the schedule they could very well decide who does or doesn't win the conference crown. UAB has scoring potential but it has been their defense that has struggled the most with with over 40 points allowed per contest. Neither side of the ball stood out in a 56-14 loss to Marshall in week ten with the home team amassing 657 yards. Alabama-Birmingham did move the ball with 457 yards but couldn't make the extra plays to get them in to the end zone. UAB did a great job on the ground with 288 yards with the duo of Jordan Howard and Darrin Reaves combining for 221 yards on 46 totes. Jonathan Perry went 10-17 for 176 yards and a TD but the bottom line was Marshall made the plays to find the end zone.

East Carolina is in a good position in the CUSA East with their fate in their own hands which means beating Alabama-Birmingham to set up a season ending winner take all season ending bout with Marshall to decide the division crown. The Pirates took care of business with a 58-24 rout of visiting Tulsa in week ten behind 505 yards of total offense. ECU was really a non factor on the ground with 121 yards and less then 3 1/2 yard average which put the job of moving the chains on the right arm of Shane Carden. That turned out to be golden with Carden hitting on 34-50 for 384 and five touchdowns with no interceptions Isaiah Jones and Justin Hardy combining for 18 catches for 203 yards and three TD's with the defense ending the game with a 100 yard pick six.
This East Carolina squad reminds me of Marshall with the constant huge spreads which we know they won't cover every week. The spread takes the interest out of this for me and is another where the total might be better then the side...
