The Akron Zips head east to take the field with MAC rival the Massachusetts Minutemen.

Akron sits at 3-7 on the season with some of the same issues that have plagued this team over the past several years which are a consistent problem sticking the ball in the end zone and getting enough stops defensively. Having said that Akron has shown some improvement and their three wins says so. The Zips picked up their third win with a 16-7 decision over the visiting Golden Flashes who are having their share of issues. Both teams totaled around 300 yards but the Zips benefitted from five Kent State giveaways. Jawon Chisolm was the offensive star with 151 yards on 27 carries as Kyle Pohl was only 8-19 for 98 yards which is why three trips to the red zone resulted in field goals.

Massachusetts Minutemen vs. Akron Zips Pick-Odds-Prediction - 11/16/13

Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

Massachusetts first two seasons in Division I football hasn't been easy as the team has struggled to move the ball and keep opponents from doing the same which hasn't been a successful endevour. Facing Northern Illinois didn't help the numbers with Jordan Lynch and the Huskies offense piling up over 600 yards on the way to a 19 victory. Surprisingly the Minutemen found a viable rushing attack they desperately needed with Lorenzo Woodley rambling for 163 yards on 38 carries with a touchdown. The problem was UMass needed three times the rushing yards with NIU totaling 354 yards on the ground. Mike Wegzyn also had problems connecting with the receiving corps with a 10-25 effort producing 169 yards and a pair of interceptions.

Akron favored by a touchdown on the road makes my head spin because my mind has trouble grasping that. UMass won this last year by eight so they can certainly do it again so take this for what it's worth...

Akron -7
