The USC Trojans and the Stanford Cardinal face off on Saturday in a huge week 12 college football matchup in the Pac-12.
The USC Trojans looked to be having a miserable season after a tough loss to Notre Dame but Southern Cal has rallied to win three in a row and they are at 6-3 for the season heading into this game. USC still has a chance to make it to the Pac-12 Championship Game but they will have their work cut out for them if that is to happen including this week’s contest. Cody Kessler has completed 64.3 percent of his passes for 1,977 yards with 12 touchdowns and six interceptions. Silas Redd has taken over the bulk of the work in the running game averaging 4.6 yards per carry and Javorius Allen averages 7.9 yards per carry with seven touchdowns. Marqise Lee as 38 catches and two touchdowns and Nelson Agholor has 36 catches and three touchdowns. Hayes Pullard has 60 tackles, Leonard Williams has 56 tackles and five sacks, and Devon Kennard has 8.0 sacks. The USC offense is averaging 29 points and 402.6 yards per game while the defense allows 19.6 points and 339.5 yards per game.

The Stanford Cardinal are coming off of a monster win as they knocked off the Oregon Ducks for the second season in a row and now the Cardinal can just wonder what would have happened if they would have defeated Utah a few weeks back. Stanford isn’t out of the National Title hunt but they are going to need a lot of help if they are going to make it. Kevin Hogan doesn’t get a lot of recognition but he has done what he has needed to do as he has completed 60.5 percent of his passes for 1,596 yards with 13 touchdowns and five interceptions and he has rushed for 241 yards and two touchdowns. Tyler Gaffney had a huge game against Oregon and for the season he has rushed for 1,043 yards and 13 touchdowns and he has 10 receptions with a receiving touchdown. Ty Montgomery has been Stanford’s primary receiver with 41 receptions and five touchdowns and Devon Cajuste has 21 catches and four touchdowns. Shayne Skov keys the Cardinal defense with 72 tackles and 3.5 sacks, A.J. Tarpley has 66 tackles, and Trent Murphy has 10 sacks. Offensively Stanford is averaging 31.9 points and 388.2 yards per game while defensively they are allowing 19.4 points and 348.8 yards per game.
USC is 4-0 against the spread in their last four Pac-12 games, 4-1 against the spread in their last five games, and 0-5 against the spread against a team with a winning record. Stanford is 19-6-1 against the spread in their last 26 road games, 10-4 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 34-16-1 against the spread in their last 51 road games. The road team is 6-2 against the spread in the last eight meetings of these two.
I am still digging into this one and I will update this by Tuesday night with my free pick so be sure to check back then.
