The New Mexico State Aggies head to the Sunshine State to tangle with the Florida Atlantic Owls.

New Mexico State has discovered some offensive punch the past three weeks where they have averaged around 35 points but stopping opponents might be the bigger issue. The Aggies rank near the bottom in most categories defensively with over 550 yards translating in to 46 points allowed and those numbers didn't get any better in a 48-34 loss at Boston College. Both teams approached 560 yards of offense with BC doing a little of everything while the Aggies were pass first. NMSU did total 170 yards on the ground with Xavier Hall accounting for 95 yards on 14 totes and a TD but most of the damage was done by Andrew McDonald and the receiving corp. McDonald completed 41-55 for 384 yards and three scores with a pick with Austin Franklin catching ten balls for 145 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensive minded Florida Atlantic has done something the past two weeks which hasn't been accomplished all year and that's win consecutive games. Both sides of the ball were at their very best in a 41-7 rout of struggling Southern Mississippi. The Owls defense held the Golden Eagles to 189 yards while forcing three turnovers including a pick six. The FAU attack didn't rack up the big yardage with 368 but considering 333 came on the ground the number was impressive. Jaquez Johnson paced the ground assault with 111 yards and a pair of touchdowns with Jay Warren right on his heels with 105 while Damion Fortner rambled for another 98 yards and two trips to the end zone. Johnson threw the ball just seven times as the Owls stuck strictly to the run for good reason.

New Mexico State throws the ball well but can they do it against an above average Florida Atlantic defense? I'm not to confident of laying almost three touchdowns in any case so this game isn't at the top of my list...

Florida Atlantic -20
