The Tulane Green Wave and the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns meet in the R & L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.
Tulane hasn't been a fixture in the postseason but a 7-5 mark in 2013 did the trick and it was well deserved. Three of their losses came by a combined nine points including a 17-13 defeat to eventual CUSA champion Rice so with a little luck this could have been a ten win season. The Green Wave were heavily dependent on their defense to not only keep opponents off the scoreboard but to aid an average offense with field position. That was mission accomplished with a top 25 defense yielding 353 yards and 21 points with the opposition totaling less then 120 yards on the ground. Tulane was the #118 attack in the game at just 306 yards and 25 points. Nick Montana threw for 1,653 yards with 14 touchdowns and nine interceptions but was just a 53% passer with Ryan Grant (70-926) the favorite target. Orleans Darkwa led the rushing attack with 780 yards on 172 carries and nine TD's.

Louisiana-Lafayette was the hottest team in the Sun Belt with an eight game winning streak and a 5-0 league mark with two games to play so the conference title was their's for the taking before star quarterback Terrance Broadway broke his arm and the Ragin' Cajuns ended the year with consecutive defeats that left them tied for the Sun Belt lead with Arkansas State. The defense was adequate with 394 yards and 27 points allowed but this was really an offense first squad that totaled nearly 35 points on 424 yards behind a top 25 rushing attack that produced over 207 yards. Alonzo Harris and Elijah McGuire combined nearly 1,680 yards and 20 scores McGuire the big play man that averaged nine yards per touch. Broadwy was an above average passer with almost 2,300 yards with 19 TD's and 10 picks with Jamal Robinson grabbing 50 balls for 812 yards.
I don't know the status of the starting quarterbacks for either team so I simply can't make an informed decision so please check back closer to game time...
