The Wake Forest Demon Deacons open 2014 on the road when they visit the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks.
Dave Clawson takes over as head coach for Wake Forest Demon Deacons and his first order of business is to find some scoring punch to be competitive in 2014. The Demon Deacons have tabbed Tyler Cameron as the opening day quarterback but we didn't see him on the field much as backup to Tanner Price who graduated. This could change with Wake carrying several quarterbacks on the roster. The Wake Forest ground game was wiped clean by graduation, leaving Orville Reynolds and Dominique Gibson as the top running backs while the receiving corps does not return anybody with more then 17 receptions. The offensive line has some experience but overall the O needs to show us what they have and hope the defense can patch together a front seven that will control the scoreboard.

Head coach Todd Berry's Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks were a big story in 2012 the way they played some bigger names but 2013 wasn't the encore many anticipated. Former Warhawks quarterback Kolton Browning got hurt and never returned to his 2012 form which leaves backup Brayle Brown or Colorado State/NC State transfer Pete Thomas as contenders for the starting job on opening day with Thomas the likely choice. Rashon Ceaser returns as the top target among the Warhawks receivers and has a chance to break 1,000 receiving yards while running back Centarius Donald becomes the centerpiece in the rushing attack that needs to do more in 2014. A decent offensive line and the Warhawks should be able to move the chains consistently. Throw in a defense that returns almost the entire unit from 2013 and ULM has potential.
UL Monroe defeated the Demon Deacons in 2013 and get this one at home. I believe the Warhawks are improved even without Kolton Browning so I'm looking at the home dog catching a field goal. I'll still keep an eye on this and update two days before the game if necessary...
