The Ohio Bobcats visit Dix Stadium to face MAC rival the Kent State Golden Flashes to kick off 2014.
The post Tyler Tettleton and Beau Blankenship era begins for the Ohio Bobcats. The duo seemed to be around forever and both were part of a very successful program. Enter backup quarterback Derrius Vick who hasn't displayed the accuracy of Tettleton in the air but he is far more of a threat with his legs and hopefully gives Ohio a dual threat. While Blankenship was a four yards and a cloud of dust type runner, Daz'mond Patterson gives the Bobcats more quickness with the potential of the big play from the backfield. If Vick can deliver the ball he has a stretch the field threat in wide receiver Chase Cochran to give the Bobcats an explosive force in the air. A stable O-Line and experienced defense shopould help the new pieces on offense.

It wasn't all that long ago that the Kent State Golden Flashes were threatening the top 20 and the FBS but as they say that was then and this is now. The Golden Flashes only won four games a year ago behind plain vanilla offense and defense but with a year of experience under his belt QB Colin Reardon should break the 2,000/500 plateaus in passing and running. Chris Humphrey gives Reardon a nice target through the air while Trayion Durham is hopeful of hitting 1,000 yards rushing to give the Kent State a few weapons. The downside on offense is no Dri Archer who did everything and did them extremely well while DT Roosevelt Nix won't be around disrupting opposing backfields which he did often so the Golden Flashes have a few voids.
I think most will be behind Kent State who absolutely embarassed Ohio last season. I am going with a bit of an upopular choice in Ohio because Frank Solich will have them ready to go...
