The Boston College Eagles take on instate rival the Massachusetts Minutemen in week one action.
The Boston College Eagles offense took quite a hit with quarterback Chase Rettig graduating and workhorse running back Andre Williams getting drafted. Florida transfer Tyler Murphy seems to have positioned himself as the starter for BC under center with Myles Willis and Tyler Rouse forming a tandem on the ground. The passing game wasn't anything close to prolific in 2013 and with the departure of Alex Amidon (77-1032) the Eagles will lean on Bobby Swigert who caught 22 balls in 2012 as the top guy. With a decent offensive line it seems the Eagles will once again be run heavy unless some receivers suddenly spring up.

The Massachusetts Minutemen have been struggling in most areas since joining the MAC and former head coach Mark Whipple takes a shot at reversing their fortunes. Marshall transfer QB Blake Frohnapfel will be a nice upgrade to the UMass passing attack which also depends on whether Tajae Sharpe gets any help among the receiving corps. Sharpe was responsible for more then half the Minutemen's receptions and will welcome Penn State transfer Alex Kenney and his stretch the field speed. Massachusetts turns to Drew Harris and Lorenzo Woodley on the ground who will run behind a big O-Line that is young but also has potential. The UMass defense has some depth which wasn't the case a season ago.
Neither team fills me with excitment and I have zero desire to put money on this. I suppose with a gun to my head I would look at the under but Boston College does have the edge in the trenches...
