The Purdue Boilermakers and Ross Ade Stadium host the Western Michigan Broncos in the season opener.
The Western Michigan Broncos lone win in 2013 was a one point decision over UMass who had problems of their own. With freshman Zach Terrell taking over for senior Tyler Van Tubbergen under center growing pains were expected with mistakes and poor play dooming the Broncos. In 2014 the WMU rushing attack leans on Jarvion Franklin and Dareyon Chance and four returning starters on the offensive line. With Timmy Keith, Kendrick Roberts and Corey Davis Western Michigan has the nucleus for a decent receiving corps if Terrell, Chance Stewart or Cameron Thomas get the ball to them. The front seven has been nearly stripped clean which puts pressure on a decent secondary that is the strength of the defense.

The Purdue Boilermakers in 2013 could best be described as not enough scoring and too much scoring by opponents. Boilermakers freshman QB Danny Etling didn't have eye popping numbers but he threw the ball well under extreme pressure considering he was sacked 31 times. The Boilermakers will likely throw the ball more often then run with most of the top producers in the receiving corps back. Running the ball was far from a strength but Raheem Mostert will get a chance to change that if an offensive line that loses four starters can find some pieces that will open up a few holes and keep the quarterback from getting killed. The front seven have some holes while the secondary has experience this group needs to up their performance.
The surest bet I can make in this one is somebody will win but I don't think it will be pretty. Not a game I like and I would use caution with whatever side you choose...
