The Massachusetts Minutemen had high hopes heading in to the season opener versus the Boston College Eagles but never got untracked offensively in a 30-7 defeat. The defense struggled as well with the Eagles racking up over 511 yards and 27 first downs. UMass had hopes that Blake Frohnapfel would give the passing game a boost but his 9-22 effort for 147 yards was boosted by 77 yard touchdown strike to Tajae Sharpe. Overall the ground game didn't provide a spark with the Minutemen barely cracking the 200 yard barrier while posting nine first downs and totaling less then 18 minutes in time of possession.
I am not really interested in backing either team with both playing well in the first half of their openers before struggling in the second half. I'm not at all impressed with the Buffaloes and another poor effort would tell be they are doomed in the PAC 12...
