The South Florida Bulls opened 2014 on a positive note in a 36-31 shootout victory over the Western Carolina Catamounts. The good news is the offense scored points which hasn't been a common sight for this team. USF led 485-454 in the yardage battle but couldn't stop WCU quarterback Troy Mitchell who threw for 374 yards. The Bulls had zero luck in the air with Mike White completing 9-26 for 181 yards with an interception. Marlon Mack saved the South Florida offense with a mamoth 275 yard performance with four touchdowns including 56 yard and 60 yard jaunts. The big play explains why South Florida totaled just 13 first downs and had the ball for 22+ minutes.
