The Cincinnati Bearcats welcome the high powered offense of the Toledo Rockets to town on Friday night.
The Toledo Rockets were over matched on both sides of the ball in a 49-24 loss to the visiting Missouri Tigers in week two. A 28-7 deficit at the half set the tone and the Rockets never recovered. Maty Mauk threw for 325 yards as Mizzou dominated the air waves to win the yardage battle 502-410. The Toledo passing attack was not as strong as hoped with Phillip Ely struggling to a 17-34 mark for 200 yards with an interception. Alonzo Russell led the Rockets with 89 yards on six receptions while Kareem Hunt paced a strong rushing attack with 148 yards on 15 carries with three touchdowns but the Rockets needed passing yards given the score and weren't able to get them.

The Cincinnati Bearcats take the field for the first time in 2014. The Bearcats are hoping transfer Gunner Kiel lives up to the expectations that made him a quarterback recruit at LSU and Notre Dame. Cincy is stocked at wide receiver with Shaq Washington leading the group with 78 receptions a season ago while Max Robinson and and Chris Moore provide alternative options through the air. The rushing attack will feature Hosey Williams and Ralph David Abernathy which will give Cincinnati a pair of productive choices in the backfield behind three returning starters on the offensive line. The defense should be solid among the front seven but need more plays from the secondary.
It's tough to say what we'll see from Cincinnati in their opener but suffice to say Toledo was vastly over rated at home versus Missouri as they could not get stops or score with the Tigers. It could be the same story here but for now I'll take the points but check back for any updates...
