The USC Trojans travel to Boston College to play the Eagles on Saturday night at Alumni Stadium.
The USC Trojans are coming off a huge win at Stanford, where they won 13-10 on Saturday. USC’s kicker, Andre Heidari, booted a career-long 53-yard field goal with 2 minutes remaining to give the Trojans the victory. USC RB Javorius Allen rushed for 154 yards, which is the second-highest individual effort against Stanford under head coach David Shaw. The Trojans snapped Stanford’s 17-game home win streak, which was the longest active streak in the FBS. USC gained only 291 total yards, while Stanford earned 413 total yards. However, the Trojans forced two turnovers while not giving the ball away themselves. QB Kody Kessler completed 15 of 22 passes for 135 yards, while WR Nelson Agholor caught 9 balls for 91 yards for USC. The Trojans do not have great depth on their team due to NCAA sanctions that are still being enforced. However, the 1st string players on both sides of the ball are elite and highly talented. The Trojans will head across the country and will have to avoid a letdown after the big win and focus on Boston College.

The Boston College Eagles played last Friday and lost at home to Pittsburgh, 30-20. The Eagles won their season opener at UMass 30-7. In the loss to Pittsburgh, the Eagles gained only 276 total yards while allowing Pittsburgh to rack up 414. QB Chad Voytik completed only 10 of 20 passes for 111 yards to go along with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. RB Tyler Murphy carried the ball 16 times for 92 yards and 1 touchdown. WR Tyler Boyd caught 5 balls for 72 yards and 2 touchdowns. Boston College was dominated up front on both sides of the ball, as they struggled to run the ball and Pittsburgh was able to rush for 303 yards on Friday. This is a huge cause for concern for Boston College as they will face a massive and athletic front line against USC this weekend. The Eagles have some talented skill players, but they do not have the caliber of players across the board that the Trojans have and it will show on Saturday.
USC will need to put the big win over Stanford behind them on the flight to the east coast. Boston College will come out energized after getting physically dominated against Pittsburgh, something you usually don’t’ see from a Boston College team historically. However, the Trojans will prove to be too much in the end. USC will run 90 to 100 plays on offense and won’t have much trouble scoring against a mediocre Eagles defense. I think the Eagles keep it within two scores early, but USC pulls away late to win by at least three touchdowns.
