The college football game of the week in the SEC will be when the Georgia Bulldogs travel to Williams-Brice Stadium to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks.
The Georgia Bulldogs have had a week to prepare for this game after beating the Clemson Tigers in week 1, 45-21. The biggest take out of the victory is that running back Todd Gurley is once again going to be a handful, as he rushed for 198 yards and three touchdowns. The Georgia Bulldogs are 12-2 SU when Gurley rushes for more than 100 yards. Quarterback Hutson Mason did a decent job in his first game replacing Aaron Murray, throwing for 131 yards and completing 69.2 percent of his passes. Hutson will certainly have to make more plays here for the Bulldogs to have a shot. Defensively, the Georgia Bulldogs allowed 291 yards and sacked the quarterback five times. Amarlo Herrera leads Georgia with 12 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss, while freshman Aaron Davis had an interception in his first career game.

The South Carolina Gamecocks bounced back from their loss to Texas A&M with a win over East Carolina, but still need a marquee win to redeem themselves. Dylan Thompson hasn’t exactly gotten off to a great start by completing just 57.7 percent of his passes and throwing an interception in each game. This has made it easier to try and bottle up running back Mike Davis, who has still managed to rush for 116 yards and two touchdowns on only 24 carries. While Davis is still tough to stop, the Gamecocks must get better production out of the quarterback position if they’re going to compete in the SEC. Defensively, the South Carolina Gamecocks are allowing 566.5 yards per game and have forced two turnovers. Skai Moore leads the Gamecocks with 13 tackles and Sharrod Golightly had his first career interception last week.
The Bulldogs are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games and 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 games overall. The Gamecocks are 5-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games in September. The Bulldogs are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings in South Carolina, while the favorite is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 meetings.
It’s really tempting to take the points and the home team, but the Gamecocks have shown us nothing in the first two weeks. Not to mention Gurley is an absolute monster and one of the few players who can put the game on his back.
I’m backing the Bulldogs by a touchdown.
