The Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles and Alabama Crimson Tide play Saturday afternoon at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
The Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles bounced back from their blowout loss to Mississippi State with a win over Alcorn State, but would love nothing more than to shock the college football world in this matchup. Southern Miss has struggled mightily on both sides of the ball, especially offense where quarterback Nick Mullens is completing just 54.7 percent of his passes and the running game is averaging just 3.7 yards per carry. The Golden Eagles need more production out of Ito Smith if they’re going to make this game even remotely competitive. Defensively, the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles are allowing 471.5 yards a game, nearly seven yards per play and have forced six turnovers. Jacorius Cotton leads the Golden Eagles with 15 tackles and Kalan Reed has two interceptions.

The Alabama Crimson Tide have cruised to a 2-0 record and should be already looking ahead to next week’s date with the Florida Gators. T.J. Yeldon is averaging 5.6 yards per carry and has a pair of touchdowns, while Amari Cooper already has 319 receiving yards. While the quarterback position is still up in the air, Blake Sims is completing 76.6 percent of his passes, and the Tide have 680 passing yards in just two games. Alabama is only going to improve offensively as the weeks go by, which is scary for the rest of the SEC. Defensively, the Alabama Crimson Tide are allowing just 269 yards per game, have six sacks and forced only one turnover. Landon Collins leads the Crimson Tide with 15 tackles and Jonathan Allen has three tackles for loss.
The Golden Eagles are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 vs. SEC and 6-20-1 ATS in their last 27 games overall. The Crimson Tide are 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 home games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 vs. CUSA.
I usually always take the truckload of points in these type of games and it's no different here. The Crimson Tide are just trying to figure things out with their quarterback situation and aren't exactly focused on beating a team by 100 points Give me the Golden Eagles and as many points as possible.
