The New Mexico State Aggies head to the Sun Bowl where they will meet the Texas-El Paso Miners.
The Texas El Paso Miners put a big scare in to Texas Tech before falling 30-26 as a three touchdown underdog at home. The Red Raiders scored with 2 1/2 minutes left to escape with the win despite winning the yardage battle 504-393. UTEP kept this close because they were able to to run the ball and milk the clock to the tune of 39 minutes in time of possession. Aaron Jones was the key for the Miners on the ground with 147 yards with a pair of touchdowns with the team totaling 2771 yards on the ground at over five yards per try. The UTEP air game was a completely different animal with Jameill Showers connecting on just 9-25 for 116 yards.

The New Mexico State Aggies scored with just 15 seconds left to pull out a 34-31 victory over Georgia State to iprove to 2-0. The Aggies showed the ability to both run and throw while getting some help on the scoreboard from their defense on Rodney Butler's 40 yard pick six. Larry Rose III and Brandon Betencourt gave the NMSU rushing attack some bite with a combined 152 yards on 29 carries. The New Mexico State passing game was in good hands with Tyler Rogers completing 25-44 for241 yards with three touchdowns and an interception with Teldrick Morgan leading the receiving corps with 89 yards on eight catches including a pair of scores.
I know it's very early in the season but both of these teams look better then have seen them. I a going with UTEP here and there grinding run game with the hope they score and hog the ball...
