The Navy Midshipmen travel to Bobcat Stadium for a week three bout with the Texas State Bobcats.
The Navy Midshipmen built a big lead versus Temple in week two and survived a late Owls rally to win 31-24. The option was operating at peak efficiency with 487 rushing yards and better then 7 1/2 yards per try which led to 36 minutes in time of possession. Keenan Reynolds only threw eight times for 30 yards but he gave Navy a lift on the ground with a team high 173 yards with three yard and 48 yard touchdowns. Noah Copeland and Chris Swain combined for another 154 yards to give the Middies more punch on the ground but there was no shortage of options in the backfield. The defense bent but didn't break with Temple able to move the ball at times.

The Texas State Bobcats laid a 65-0 rout on Arkansas-Pine Bluff to kick off their season. The Bobcats ran and threw their way to nearly 700 yards with a whopping 39 first downs while the Golden Lions finished with 214 yards. Tyler Jones enjoyed a near perfect performance under center on a 21-25 effort for 278 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions with Jafus Gaines giving the Bobcats 119 yards and a pair of scores on four receptions. Texas State was every bit as effective on the ground with Robert Lowe rambling for 150 yards on 14 touches with a trip to the endzone while Stedman Mayberry and Jones combined for 105 yards.
Texas State looks dangerous but the Midshipmen are a completely different animal then Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Oh how I do hate laying points on the road...
