The Maine Black Bears and Boston College Eagles play Saturday afternoon at Alumni Stadium.

The Maine Black Bears head into this matchup with a 1-1 record and are trying to find some sort of offensive success. Maine has a dual-threat quarterback in Dan Collins, who is more of a runner than passer, as he’s completing just 43.9 percent of his passes but is the second leading rusher with 88 rushing yards on 29 carries. The Black Bears are averaging just 2.8 rushing yards as a team with Nigel Jones leading the way with 150 rushing yards. Maine has managed just 20 points and 25 first downs in its first two games and is covertining just 21 percent of its third down attempts. Needless to say, it’s a painful experience offensively for the Black Bears. Defensively, the Maine Black Bears are allowing 9.5 points per game, 215 yards and have produced five sacks. Trevor Bates has the lone interception for Maine.

Boston College Eagles vs. Maine Black Bears CFB Pick, Odds, Prediction - 9/20/14

USA TODAY Sports

The Boston College Eagles are coming off a monster upset victory over the USC Trojans last week. All of a sudden Boston College is one of the best rushing teams in the country with an average of 6.3 yards per carry. The Eagles have four different players with more than 100 rushing yards, and quarterback Tyler Murphy leads the way with 401 yards and three touchdowns. Boston College would much rather run the ball and control the clock than throw, as Murphy is completing just 49.2 percent of his passes and has four interceptions to two touchdowns. That’s why Boston College has 149 rushing attempts and only 65 pass attempts. Defensively, the Boston College Eagles are allowing 317.7 yards a game and have forced two turnovers and eight sacks. Steven Daniels leads Boston College with 18 tackles and Josh Keyes has 6.5 tackles for loss.
