The Louisville Cardinals travel to Florida to play the Florida International Golden Panthers on Saturday afternoon.
The Louisville Cardinals dropped to 2-1 on the year after losing at Virginia 23-21 last weekend. The Cardinals defeated Miami and Murray State to start the season before losing their first road game. Against Virginia, the Cardinals produced only 282 total yards, while allowing 285 total yards to Virginia. Louisville converted 4 of 14 third downs, good for a 28% rate. The Cardinals turned the ball over 4 times, but were able to force 3 turnovers against Virginia. QB Will Gardner completed a miserable 14 of 34 passes for 164 yards to go along with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. WR Miles Gooch caught 4 balls for 78 yards and a touchdown, while RB Dominique Brown carried the ball 20 times for 74 yards and a touchdown. Louisville will head back out on the road this weekend and they can’t afford to start slow like they did against Virginia. Gardner will need to play much better moving forward if Louisville wants to compete at a high level in the ACC.

The FIU Golden Panthers dropped to 1-2 on the year after losing to Pittsburgh 42-25 at home last weekend. FIU beat Wagner last week and lost to Bethune-Cookman in week one. Last weekend, the Golden Panthers gained only 293 total yards, while giving up 422 total yards to Pittsburgh. FIU led 16-0 in the first quarter by gave up two touchdowns in the second, leading by just two points at the break. FIU rushed for only 57 yards and turned the ball over once. The Golden Panthers defense forced 3 turnovers, but FIU also committed 8 penalties for 68 yards. QB Alex McGough completed 15 of 30 passes for 224 yards and 2 touchdowns. WR Glenn Coleman caught 2 balls for 76 yards and 1 touchdown, while RB Alex Gardner rushed for 44 yards on 12 carries. FIU will have their hands full again this weekend as they welcome in another ACC opponent.
FIU is catching Louisville on a bad week as the Cardinals are coming off a tough loss on the road at Virginia. The Golden Panthers are an average team at best and Louisville should have no problem winning this game. I think Louisville will come out on fire and win this game in blowout fashion.
