The Line: LSU Tigers -10 -- Over/Under: 50 See the Latest Odds
The LSU Tigers and the Mississippi State Bulldogs face off on Saturday in Baton Rouge in a SEC college football battle of unbeaten teams.
The LSU Tigers got their season off to a winning start beating Wisconsin in a wild game and they haven’t allowed a point since winning their next two game in shutouts. While the LSU defense is thriving, QB is still a question mark as Anthony Jennings has completed just 52 percent of his passes. The LSU running attack is as strong as ever with Kenny Hilliard and Leonard Fournette both averaging 5.2 yards per carry and the team totaling nine TD’s on the ground. Travin Dural is the Tigers leading receiver with 12 catches and four of them going for touchdowns but overall the passing game hasn’t been a strong suit. The LSU defense has four interceptions, two fumble recoveries, and eight sacks of the QB. Dwayne Thomas has 16 tackles and an interception and Jermauria Rasco and Sione Teuhema each have two sacks. LSU’s defense ahs carried the way since the first half of week one and it will be a test when the offense is forced to make a play through the air.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs are off to a 3-0 start to the season but they are heading into what is easily their stiffest test thus far. QB Dak Prescott came into the season with big expectations and thus far he is living up to them with nearly 60 percent of his passes completed including nine touchdowns and rushing for 273 yards and two more scores. Josh Robinson is MSU’s leading ground gainer with 288 yards and three touchdowns while Jameon Lewis is the Bulldogs leading receiver. The Mississippi State defense has five interceptions, three fumble recoveries, and 11 sacks. Benardrick McKinney leads the MSU defense with 20 tackles including two sacks, Preston Smith has two sacks and two interceptions, and Benequez Brown has 15 tackles including 3.5 for a loss. This is a chance for Mississippi State to make a big statement, something that haven’t been able to do for a very long time.
LSU is 4-9-1 against the spread in their last 14 games following a win and 2-5 following a win by 20 or more points. Mississippi State is 4-1 against the spread in their last five road games, 5-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 2-5 against the spread in their last seven road games against a team with a winning home record. The favorite has covered the point spread in the last four meetings of these two teams.
I am expecting a hard hitting defensive SEC type of game with the focus being on the ground game and for points to be difficult to come by and witht he total set at 50 my free pick is on the under. My stronger play is on who will cover the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area and on the app.
