The Memphis Tigers shoot for their second win versus the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders.
The Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders squeezed by the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers 50-47 in three overtimes in literally the 'last team with the ball wins' scenario. The Hilltoppers moved the ball with ease with 718 yards with Brandon Doughty throwing for 593 yards. The Blue Raiders weren't too bad in the yardage department with 541 with some semblance of balance. MTSU leaned heavily on quarterback Austin Grammer who threw for 218 yards and a touchdown while running for another 125 yards and three scores. Reggie Whatley and Shane Tucker combined for another 141 yards on the ground to give the Blue Raiders three quality options. The worry was the Middle Tennessee secondary who were constantly burned through the air.

The Memphis Tigers have had a week off to think about a heartbreaking 42-35 loss to the UCLA Bruins back in week two. The Tigers simply came up on the wrong end of a shootout but credit them for hanging tough as a 15 point road dog. This came down to Brett Hundley throwing for almost 400 yards on the Memphis defense and their own 469 yards not being enough. Quarterback Paxton Lynch gave the Tigers a fighting chance thanks to 305 passing yards and a touchdown with ten players recording receptions. Doroland Dorceus gave Memphis a presense on the ground with 86 yards on 13 carries and a touchdown but the offense needed to go more with the pass given the score.
I know Memphis has the revenge angle here but neither defense looks good against the pass so I'll back the points for now and take a look at the total so please check back for an update...
