The Rutgers Scarlet Knights take a trip to Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium to take on the Navy Midshipmen on Saturday.
The Rutgers Scarlet Knights will need to quickly forget about last week’s close loss to the Penn State Nittany Lions to have a chance here. Offensively, Rutgers has much of the same issues they’ve had for a while, as quarterback Gary Nova is still a turnover machine and the running game is still struggling. Nova is completing 60.5 percent of his passes and has six touchdowns to six interceptions, while the Scarlet Knights are averaging just 3.8 rushing yards per carry. Paul James, however, has been been a bright spot to the Rutgers offense, racking up 267 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 56 carries. Defensively, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights are allowing 446 yards and have forced five turnovers and 13 sacks. Steve Longa leads the Scarlet Knights with 24 tackles and Kemoko Turay has 3.5 sacks.

The Navy Midshipmen return home after winning back-to-back road games against Temple and Texas State. As usual, Navy has the top rushing offense in the country with an average of 6.6 yards per carry and nine rushing touchdowns. Quarterback Keenan Reynolds is the brain behind the operation and while he is suffering from a knee bruise, he is expected to participate in this matchup. Navy has five players with more than 100 rushing yards, including Noah Copeland, who leads the way with 222 yards on 30 touches. Navy’s offense and the triple option offense continues to give defenses fits, which is why they lead the country with 403 rushing yards. Defensively, the Navy Midshipmen are allowing 419.3 yards per game and have forced four turnovers and one sack. Chris Johnson leads the Midshipmen with 23 tackles and three tackles for loss, while Quincy Adams has broken up four passes.
The Scarlet Knights are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 vs. INDEP and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Midshipmen are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 home games and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The home team is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 meetings.
