The Ohio Bobcats play host to the Idaho Vandals with both teams in need of a week four win Saturday.
Idaho looked much improved in their season opener versus Louisiana-Monroe despite losing, but not so much in a 45-33 defeat at the hands of visiting Western Michigan Saturday. The Vandals struggled defensively from the first snap as the Broncos jumped to a 35-19 lead heading in to the locker room and were never challenged. WMU totaled 487 yards with great balance while the home team gained 407 with no rushing attack. The passing of Matt Linehan was the Vandals offense with 362 passing yards with three touchdowns and a pick with Joshua McCain snagging seven balls for 128 yard and a score. The story of the day was the defense struggled for the second time in as many outings.

The Marshall Thundering Herd powered their way to 27-0 halftime lead over the Ohio Bobcats and cruised to a 44-14 victory to up their record to 3-0. This was really the first time Marshall put everything together with the offense rolling up over 700 yards while the defense allowed 377 yards and forced three turnovers. The Bobcats offense revolved around quarterback Derrius Vick who threw for 200 yards with a touchdown and interception. Vick also displayed some running ability with his eleven carry, 51 yard performance leading the Bobcats on the ground. The problem was the Bobcats needed to burn some clock and hog the ball or match Marshall score for score and none of these scenarios unfolded.
I don't see a bunch of playmakers on the offensive side of the ball for Ohio so laying points is a dangerous thing. On the flipside, I thought Idaho had a good chance of beating Western Michigan. I probably need to see both play a bit more to get a feel for them to be honest...
