The South Alabama Jaguars welcome the Georgia Southern Eagles to Ladd-Peebles Stadium in week four.
The Georgia Southern Eagles fell to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 42-38 as a spirited second half come back came up short. The Eagles looked dead in the water as they trailed 35-10 at the half before taking a late 4th quarter lead only to watch Georgia Tech score with 23 seconds remaining. Both teams piled up over 500 yards with Kevin Ellison giving the Eagles some valuable passing and running yards. Ellison was 7-10 for 164 yards and a touchdown in the air and added 107 yards on nine totes on the ground with another score. Matt Breida led GSU with 111 rushing yards on eleven totes and two scores while BJ Johnson led the receiving corps with a 68 yard TD reception.

South Alabama ran in to problems on both sides of the ball in a 35-3 defeat at the hands of visiting Mississippi State Saturday. The Bulldogs racked up over 500 yards and were able to both run and throw while the one dimensional Jaguars were held to 345 yards with no ground game. The focus of moving the chains fell to the passing of Brandon Bridge who connected on 21-39 throws for 203 yards with an interception while Matt Floyd hit on 7-16 for 85 yards and another pick. Jereme Jones was the top USA receiver with seven catches for 76 yards but the issue for the offense was four turnovers against a bigger and faster Mississippi State squad.
I like the Jaguars defense but they did struggle to stop the Navy option a season ago and although Georgia Southern is not Navy they do have a solid run game. Right now I'll back the Eagles but check back Friday for updates...
