The LSU Tigers and the New Mexico State Aggies face off on Saturday in Baton Rouge in college football action.

The LSU Tigers are coming off of their first loss of the season as their late rally against visiting Mississippi State fell short. The writing may have been on the wall for LSU as years of players leaving early and sketchy passing usually are signs that a team is vulnerable. QB Anthony Jennings has completed just 51.3 percent of his passes with five touchdowns and an interception and Brandon Harris has completed 68.8 percent of his passes but his playing time has been light. Kenny Hilliard and Leonard Fournette lead the LSU ground attack and while they have ben good, they haven’t been “game controlling” great. Travin Dural has 18 receptions and four touchdowns to pace the Tigers passing attack while Malachi Dupre appears to be all that he is billed to be but he has just six catches with three of them going for touchdowns.  The LSU Defense has four interceptions, four fumble recoveries, and 10 sacks and they have been extremely tough late in games. Ronald Martin has 23 tackles and an interception and Jermauria Rasco has two sacks and Dwayne Thomas has 22 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and an interception. LSU will need to put last week in the rear view mirror and move forward.

The New Mexico State Aggies are off to a 2-2 start but they have lost their last two. New Mexico State has been a doormat for many years as they try once again to build their program by taking on the big boys. QB Tyler Rogers has completed 61..4 percent of his passes with nine touchdowns but he has six interceptions. Larry Rose III leads NMSU in rushing averaging 4.3 yards per carry and Xavier Hall has the second most carries and leads the Aggies with three rushing touchdowns. T Morgan has 31 receptions and four touchdowns as New Mexico State’s leading receiver and Joseph Mathews has 17 receptions and has found the endzone three times. Defensively New Mexico State has four interceptions, four fumble recoveries, and but just two sacks and they have been sliced up on the ground to the tune of 299 yards per game. Rodney Butler leads the Aggies with 47 tackles, Derek Ibekwe has 44 tackles, and Kawe Johnson has 39 tackles as the defense has spent a lot of time on the field. New Mexico State may be catching LSU at the worst time possible, as they are a wounded Tiger.

LSU is 1-6-1 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the spread and 5-2 against the spread following a loss. New Mexico State is 4-1 against the spread in their last five games, 5-12 against the spread in their last five non-conference games, and 2-8 against the spread in their last 10 road games.

LSU has talented backs who re due to break out and New Mexico State looks to be tailor made and I will take the Tigers despite the ridiculous number.
